1. Michael Kallsen—WINNER!

I am writing this in regard to a co-worker of mine, Mike Kallsen. Today, we are housing multiple patients due to the lack of available rooms on the floors, and needless to say, it is quite busy. We had a patient up for discharge who had an appointment at Grand Teton Gastro in about fifteen minutes but had nobody to take him there and was unable to transfer himself. Mike took matters into his own hands and drove the patient to his appointment with his own vehicle, despite the fact that we were very busy, and mike could have easily used that as an excuse to have the patient find his own transport. Clearly, Mike has gone beyond his expected role as a nurse to help another person. He also continually shows exceptional leadership qualities and nursing skills. I just think he deserves the recognition, and I would like to nominate him for the Ace Award. Thanks, and have a great day!

I just wanted to let you know how great Brian Ziel is. I was discharging a patient and I had a cart with their belongings in it and I needed some extra hands to push the cart so that I could push the wheelchair with the patient in it. I ran inside to grab a familiar face and there I saw Brian who was finishing up something with the canned food drive. I asked him if he would be so kind to help me push the cart while I helped the patient out the door and he didn't hesitate, he smiled and said "absolutely!! I would love to" and he helped me with the cart. I was so amazed at how someone who's title isn't in direct patient care could stop what he's doing to help me a "CNA" with discharging a patient. He really did go above and beyond, and I just had to tell someone what a great person he is!!
