Our Newest Nurse Manager!
Jim Brittain—Medical Surgical Floor Nurse Manager
Jim Brittain is an experienced Nurse with over 15 years of healthcare experience, including eight years in critical care, two in Medical imaging, and four years of leadership roles. He graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and started working as a Nurse at St. Luke’s Surgical ICU in Boise, Idaho. This experience provided an opportunity to develop the nursing skills needed to take on resource and charge duties quickly. Jim was later asked to help open a new facility for St. Luke’s in Nampa, Idaho with the focus of keeping patients closer to home while receiving the highest level of care possible. This was achieved by establishing the ICU’s identity and promoting an environment where the staff could work to their full potential. Jim thrives on working with staff to help each person reach their full potential and maintain a high standard of care for each patient.
Jim is native to Southeast Idaho and returned in 2019 to be closer to family. He spends most of his free time with his wife and three children, 11, 6, and 2. They enjoy traveling, camping, trail riding, all things outdoors, and watching movies together.
Jim is very excited for this opportunity to help IFCH continue its goal of providing the best medical care for our community.
Idaho Healthcare Institute
A NEW NURSING OPPORTUNITY
In conjunction with the College of Eastern Idaho, we've expanded opportunities with the Idaho Healthcare Institute to jumpstart a career in nursing in as little as eight weeks! Trainings are offered for CNAs, LPNs, and RNs. If you or someone you know could benefit from this opportunity, visit their website to start the process.
Our Newest CMSRN Nurses!
Both Amanda McMurtrey and Sarah Kauer have been amazing nurses to have on our unit and have gone out of their way to learn more and build on the experience they already have working on our Med Surg unit by completing their certification (CMSRN). Receiving this certification is a huge accomplishment, and not held by many nurses. They continue to work hard and share their knowledge with new staff that come to our unit. As a unit, we are so grateful to have these two ladies continue to be a part of our team. The following is a little bit of information we would like to share about each of these great nurses.
Amanda McMurtrey: I got into nursing because I love helping people, I love to learn, I love science, critical thinking, and being challenged. My Grandmother was also a nurse, so I followed in her footsteps. When I'm not chasing around my toddler my hobbies include playing guitar, archery, and singing karaoke. This past year I've put in a lot of work into a memoir I've written. It's been professionally edited and I'm just working out a few kinks before publishing.
Sarah Kauer: Sarah Kauer started working on the Med/Surg unit with an emergency temporary license, and was thrown into the trenches of nursing during the COVID pandemic. She has since worked Med/Surg at IFCH as a floor nurse, resource nurse, and charge nurse. She loves learning new things and gaining new skills. Sarah grew up in Idaho Falls, left for school, and then settled down back in IF. Sarah has been married to her husband, Caven, for 6 years and is a mom of two adorable little boys, Oliver and Kalvin.
