Dear RN’s, LPN’s, CNA’s and the random NP or CRNA,
As we are coming out of the Pandemic and as Nurse’s Week winds up I wanted to take the opportunity to tell you how much I respect you and what you do professionally. This has been an interesting experience. The pandemic has added a different twist to our first year in a brand new hospital. You have all handled this with poise and professionalism that I respect immensely.
Thank you for what you do.
Thank you for giving of yourself to our patients and their family members.
Thank you for giving the kind of care where a family member feels it necessary to hunt me down and thank me for the care we gave to their loved one. This happens a lot more than you’d think.
Thank you for staying late, coming in early, working extra shifts, working through lunches, working with supply shortages, and for helping us grow.
Thank you for believing that IFCH can be a great place to work. It is, because of what you and your fellow co-workers bring to the table!
Most of all, please know that your compassion, optimism and kindness do not go unnoticed. From all of us in Administration “We appreciate you!”
Casey Jackman, COO
Message from ICU & Surgery
We as a facility have grown leaps and bounds over the last year and a half and each department should be commended for the milestones that have been met. In April, our ICU and OR teams were able to be part of something amazing. We had our first organ donation case. While this is was an incredibly difficult time for the family as they were losing a loved one, we were able to provide them and their loved one excellent care and support. We involved our partner Donor Connect and the referral was made. There was an immense amount of work that went into coordinating all the necessary steps. Through this whole time period there was such a showing of compassion and respect. We were able to provide what the family was hoping for….though they were losing a loved one, they wanted to help someone else. A huge thank you to the ICU and OR teams for your excellent performance, both clinical skill and compassionate care of this patient and their family. We are beyond proud to work along side you!

IFCH Employee Spotlight
Name: Lucas Burke
Dept: Nutritional Services / Dietary
Position: Nutrition Hospitality
What do you like about your job with IFCH? I enjoy getting to visit the patients and having an opportunity to make their days better.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work? Playing games and hanging out with friends.
How long have you worked at IFCH? 3 years
What is something most people don’t know about you? Well if I told, then most people would know it about me.
Use three words to best describe you. Funny, kind, and caring.
What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery? I’d go and buy food!
What is your favorite quote/motto? ”They don’t think it be like it is, but it do."
In the photo at work, kitchen staff made a fish smoothie out of salmon, broth and lemon juice and he drank actually drank it.
It's become quite the joke in the Nutrition Department that Lucas is a lady's man because of all the "more senior" female patients requesting that "the nice young man in the bow tie" deliver their meals. Joking aside, I would be hard pressed to find a Nutrition Hospitality employee with his dedication and talent for service.
Message from Emergency Department
Incredible and exciting things have been happening here at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.
In 2016, the State of Idaho began recognizing hospitals for their extensive preparations in order to develop the ability to quickly identify and take excellent care of patients in three Time Sensitive Emergency (TSE) categories: Trauma, Stroke, and STEMI (ST-segment Elevation Myocardial Infarctions, or “heart attack”).
Since opening our doors nearly 18 months ago, we have been actively pursuing state designations in each of these three TSE classifications. After months of preparation, education, and an unbelievable amount of work, Idaho state and independent surveyors came to IFCH on April 9th (Stroke and STEMI) and May 3rd (Trauma) to look at all of our TSE programs. Each survey team spent the majority of the day with IFCH employees as they toured the facility, reviewed policies, procedures, education, and outreach efforts. They meticulously searched through patient charts and confirmed that we had appropriate equipment, medications, training, and personnel to safely care for whatever type of patient walks through our doors.
Usually the survey team will make a list of all the areas of concern they have and present them for the hospital to fix or improve. If the hospital does a really good job, the survey team will recommend to the state that the new facility be accredited for one year on a “probationary” status and will plan a second review to see if the suggested improvements have been put into practice. At the conclusion of the second review the hospital may become fully accredited and enter into a three-year review cycle (meaning that every three years they return to make sure we uphold the high standards of patient care).
But that is not what happened here at IFCH. The survey teams found ZERO deficiencies! While they did offer suggestions for improvement, each department did such a complete and incredible job that the survey teams plan to recommend to the State TSE Council (when they meet on May 11th) that our hospital be granted FULL accreditation (no year-long probationary period) as a STEMI, Level 2 – Stroke, Level 3 – Trauma, Level 4 Center. This is an extremely rare and tremendous accomplishment!
Of the 44 hospitals in Idaho, we will be the 9th hospital to receive a facility designation for all three TSE categories.
Every single department contributed to this success; clinical, ancillary, and non-clinical (EVS made sure everything was beautiful and dietary literally “saved our bacon”). You should all be VERY proud of yourselves, and your teammates, for helping IFCH to achieve this incredible goal – way to go, IFCH team!!!

Good Job Team!
We've recently received some awesome reviews on Google and sent to us personally. Good job to the entire team, and keep up the good work!
I was so very impressed with all the staff at community hospital. The nurses are competent, friendly and caring. I always felt I was in good hands. I was also impressed with how fast I was helped in the ER rooms. Thanks to all who serve in IFCH.

The staff was amazing. They took such great care of my mother while she was there. Everyone was kind and upbeat. They were always around to make sure that she was safe, comfortable and taken care of. Wouldn’t go anywhere else from now on. Thank you to all that work there. You are the best!!! 5 stars to each and every one of you, from the doctors, nurses and the people that made sure her room was clean. You all make that place great!
