ACE Aware Winner

Cherrish Morgan – Med/Surg RN

I had a patient the other day who happened to be in the hospital for his birthday. Cherrish Morgan was our charge nurse that day and she wanted to do something special for him. She bought him some small gifts, a couple balloons, and called the cafeteria to get him a treat. She took it in to him and he was so thankful. Unfortunately, he passed away a couple days later, but his wife said how grateful she was that Cherrish did that for him.

Shout out to other ACE Award nominations

Kalani Mago- Head Chef

I want to Nominate Kalani Mago. We have had a lot of ups and downs in the kitchen and we’ve been very short staffed. His job is more administration work, but he’s stepped up and helped out so much in the kitchen the last few months. He even has himself scheduled for several doubles and not many days off. He really is the leader of the kitchen. He leads by example. He gets more prep done in 10 minutes than we do in an hour. We really would be a complete mess if he wasn’t there to lead the way.

Whitney Cooley- Director of Pharmacy

After seeing the physical and mental stress our IFCH nurses are under right now, Whitney Cooley has asked to pay for all IFCH nurses’ meals for a few days. She also arranged for housekeeping to get jackets when the housekeeping budget couldn’t afford them. Whitney has a big, compassionate heart despite her own trials she is facing.

Message from Administration:

Hello and Happy New Year!

I’m happy to see 2020 in the rearview and hoping for a much more “normal” year to come. (Whatever that may be!)

I wanted to just take this opportunity to point us towards the future and not dwell on the last year. While it was amazing to see all of the accomplishments for IFCH during 2020 (both covid and non-covid), we have a lot to do that I want to focus on.

Here are things coming up in 2021.

New Service Lines! Stroke, STEMI, Trauma, Pediatrics, Advanced Neurosurgery and more invasive vascular and thoracic surgery. We’ve been ramping up on all of these services this past year and have plans to launch them towards state designations in 2021 (where applicable). All of these service lines will drive more volume to our hospital.

New Director of Nursing! Linda Wolsey is retiring, and we owe her a huge debt of gratitude for running 100mph her last 18 months of her career rather than coasting into retirement. She did a wonderful job getting us off the ground. We are currently looking for a new DON but in the meantime, Marian Walker has stepped in as Interim DON. She is not only helping us in the hunt but giving us time to find the right-minded candidate to lead our staff.

New Insurance Relationships! We are working aggressively to get contracts with Select Health and to further our relationship with Blue Cross of Idaho to help drive more volume our way.

New Healthcare Partners! We are strengthening relationships with outlying hospitals to act as a referral center for them. Not only will their higher acuity patients get to experience our personalized care, but it will also offer them cost savings never seen before. We are also working closely with Dr. Aaron Gardner at Just 4 Kids Urgent Care and Primary Children’s Hospital to develop our Pediatrics program and offer sub-specialist rotations.

I’m excited for 2021. I think that we have some incredible opportunities for IFCH to continue to grow and make more impact on healthcare in this area. Thank you all for what you do. You are all doing such a great job delivering healthcare in trying times. I sincerely hope that you all have a great New Year and know how much you are valued.
