Mountain View Hospital & Idaho Falls Community Hospital Establish Partnership with Intermountain Health to Continue Improving Care for Idahoans

Mountain View Hospital and Idaho Falls Community Hospital are excited to welcome Intermountain Health as a minority investor in both organizations. Mountain View Hospital and Idaho Falls Community Hospital are equally committed to providing Idahoans with access to high-quality, affordable care. The new partnership with Intermountain Health is a testament to that commitment and will expand community members access to specialists across the West, while keeping the Idaho Falls-based hospitals locally owned and managed.

Intermountain Health is a nonprofit health system of 33 hospitals and 385 clinics located in seven mountain-region states. Intermountain Health has become an industry leader in using evidence-based care to deliver high-quality outcomes at sustainable costs.

“The success of Mountain View Hospital over the past 20 years has come from working with people who share our same mission,” said James Adamson, CEO and board member of Mountain View Hospital and Idaho Falls Community Hospital. “Every time we add a new physician or welcome another partner, we ask ourselves if they are going to put the community’s well-being first. I can say with confidence Intermountain Health will be a great addition to our team. Together, we will revolutionize healthcare by putting the needs of people above all else.”

“We are excited to partner with Mountain View Hospital and Idaho Falls Community Hospital to help support the overall health and well-being of Idahoans,” said Dan Liljenquist, chief strategy officer for Intermountain Health. “These hospitals are known for their innovative thinking and compassionate approach to healthcare. Collectively, we will be able to serve more patients and improve care across the region.”

The partnership will allow Mountain View Hospital and Idaho Falls Community Hospital to tap into Intermountain Health’s highly trained specialists and vast system of resources. The goal will always be to provide the best possible care close to home. However, extremely sick patients, such as those needing an organ transplant, will be able to quickly access treatment at Intermountain Health’s Utah facilities if needed. Healthcare providers from Mountain View Hospital and Idaho Falls Community will also have opportunities to train at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital and Intermountain Medical Center, both Level 1 Trauma Centers in Salt Lake City. The collaboration between the three healthcare organizations is designed to improve patient outcomes.

“Intermountain Health is an established healthcare provider in the region and our patients will benefit from the additional resources and expertise they will bring to the community,” said Greg West, a Mountain View Hospital board member and founding physician of the hospital. “Intermountain Health will help us grow our critical care service lines, while allowing us to continue collaborating with our long-term physician and insurance partners.”

“Blue Cross of Idaho has a strong partnership with Mountain View Hospital and Idaho Falls Community Hospital, working together to bring high-quality, affordable care to Southeastern Idaho,” said Drew Hobby, chief innovation officer for Blue Cross of Idaho. “We believe their new partnership with Intermountain Health will expand access to care, and we look forward to a new chapter in collaboration with all parties to improve and drive down the overall cost of healthcare.”

Mountain View Hospital and Idaho Falls Community Hospital will retain full control of their day-to-day operations under the new partnership. Intermountain Health will provide strategic guidance to both organizations.
